Trying again

My blogs (and personal journals) are always full of posts titled something like "Starting again", "It's been a while", "Sunday", or other boring, uninformative titles.

This weekend was busy! Madyson went to a shoe-tying class at Nordstrom's which was fabulous (I highly recommend it for any 5-ish-yos who are just about ready to learn how to tie shoes). The best part is they give each child a paper practice "shoe" with a 2-colored tie that let's the teacher say "put the blue lace over the yellow lace", which is much more helpful than "put this lace over that one".

Later in the afternoon we went to Piatti in University Village, where we gave our good friend Sachi a surprise party to celebrate her completing her generals exam in Japanese literature. Let me tell you, computer science has NOTHING on literature in terms of preparation necessary for a generals exam. Madyson got to play with lots of playmates she hadn't seen in quite a while-- Momo, Claire, Evie, Ana Sofia-- and Alec was a great monster to give the girls a reason to scream.

Then we went to Laura & Lindsay's for dinner. The girls had a blast playing. And oh no, the weekend isn't over yet-- Sunday Madyson went to see the Lion King with Lindsay, as her aunt got sick and couldn't go. Yay! It made for a very exhausted, grumpy and mean Madyson on Sunday night. She seems better on Monday though!
